Kathryn+George’s e-shoot in Lark Lane

Kathryn+George brought their frisbee along with them so after a spot of frisbee throwing in Sefton Park, which is incidentally how they met!  we headed off for a  lovely afternoon stroll down Lark Lane, one of our fave streets in Liverpool.

Lots of window shopping! with a little bit of spending thrown in at gorgeous little shop called “Larks” www.larklane.com/larks a fab Aladdin’s cave spilling over with all things pretty and vintage.

We managed to resist the cakes! Hoorah!

‘Real Grooms: Duncan Skirrow’ feature on I Am Staggered

Nice one guys at I Am Staggered.co.uk in Crewe.  Craig phoned me the other week after we following IAS on twitter and when he asked if i’d like to do a feature, of course I said yes,  afterall men need more say when it comes to weddings.  IAS is definitely for the more savvy groom – helping to banish medocrity – like badly fitted hire suits .I think it may be UKs only blog for grooms?!  And now they’re going stateside – way to go. The team at IAS really dug the wedding we shot for cool couple Duncan and Devinia at the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool last year, so check it out here: http://www.iamstaggered.com/featured/real-grooms-duncan-skirrow

Later. K.

Sefton Park Palm House 10th Anniversary Celebrations

Congratulations to the beautiful Palm House set in the heart of Liverpool’s Sefton Park, it’s steaped in history, hosts a wealth of stunning tropical flowers and is a truly amazing wedding venue! (we got hitched there!)

Kenny & I were invited to take a few pics and help celebrate this magnificent hot house with a glass of champers or 2!

A bit of Palm House history for ya – Completed in 1896, Sefton Park Palm House was a gift to the  City by Henry Yates Thompson. It was designed by an Edinburgh  firm, MacKenzie & Moncur who had branches in Glasgow  and London and  an extensive portfolio of glasshouse across the country.

In the blitz of May 1941 a bomb fell nearby and shattered  the glass. It was reglazed in 1950 and continued to be enjoyed  by the people of Liverpool. However, a period  of decline and deterioration culminated in its closure in the 1980’s on grounds  of safety.

In June 1992, a public meeting was held highlighting the  dereliction and calling for restoration. A petition of 5,000 names was  presented to the City Council by what had become the “Save the Palm  House” campaign. For the first time ever this cause generated cross-party  support from the Council for the refurbishment proposal.

A fund raising campaign was established, with a  “sponsor a pane” programme generating over £35,000. This led directly  to the conversion of Save the Palm House into a registered charity (Friends of  Sefton Park Palm House), later Sefton Park Palm House Preservation Trust.

Here’s to the next 10 years!!

An Evening with ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris at Sefton Park Palm House

Bob Harris, Caroline Ailin, Andy Steele, Jez Wing, Helen Maher

Bob Harris, Ian McNabb, Ian Prowse, Andy Steele, Jez Wing, Billy Hatton

Spent Friday night at the amazing Sefton Park Palm House shooting Bob Harris, former presenter of BBC2’s influential music show Old Grey Whistle Test which ran between 1971 and 1988.  His ancedotes were so fascinating that I almost forgot I was supposed to shooting it!  He recounted his friendships and time spent with the likes of Brian Wilson, John Lennon, Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Marc Bolan and Bruce Springsteen.  It was great to see Liverpool rock musicians Ian Prowse (Pele, Amsterdam) who lead the line-up, and Ian McNabb (Icicle Works), and Billy Hatton (60’s group Fourmost) turn up to hear Bob.  There were some brilliant performances from Andy Steele, Jez Wing and Helen Maher, and from LIPA student Caroline Ailin.
